Waste Recycling Group

Work for the WRG based in Oxfordshire, began in 2004 and will cover a three year period. The contract covers four sites in total with the objective of land reclamation.

Fountains Forestry has worked on the soft landscaping of all four sites in converting them to new woodlands or grasslands. Works include enhancing wildlife and bio-diversity on previous landfill sites through works such as pond creation and riparian zone management.

Difficulties with working on landfill sites include avoiding the membrane 1 metre below the surface designed to contain noxious gases.

One site is to be open to the public with public footpaths included in the other remaining sites. A Millennium Common has been created specifically for public enjoyment.

Scope of Work:

Tree planting, grass cutting, fencing and ongoing maintenance.
