UKWAS Statement
Fountains Forestry manages woodlands and forests throughout the United Kingdom. As a company we strive to be at the forefront of forestry management techniques and to bring to our clients the benefits of a thoroughly professional approach. As a company we supported the introduction, in 1998, of the UK Forestry Standard. We have always sought to manage forests and woodlands in ways that not only maximise the financial returns for our clients but also maximise the environmental benefits and other uses of the land.
Fountains Forestry brings to its forest management the principles and procedures of the United Kingdom Woodland Assurance Standard (UKWAS). Our processes and procedures comply with the requirements of UKWAS and only where owners instruct us not to undertake specific proposals will woodland areas not be managed in a way that produces certifiable woodland and forest products.
Fountains Forestry aims, whilst growing and managing the forests and woodlands of its customers:
To maintain, and wherever possible enhance:
- the basic biological productivity of soils.
- the quality of the atmosphere.
- the biological diversity of a site.
- the security of scarce or special species and habitats.
To safeguard, conserve and wherever possible improve:
- cherished landscapes.
- important archaeological and historical features.
